The Empire Throwing Club, along with other organizations and AD's around the Northeast U.S. saw a need to provide accurate, up-to-date recognition of our Junior class competitors' achievements. This page serves as a current and historical record of the top throws by NYS junior class athletes (14-17 years old).

To be eligible as a NYS Junior Record:
The athlete must be under the age of 18 on the day of the games
The athlete must be a resident of New York State, though records can be set anywhere
The throw must use a legal implement of the weight stated above, to be certified by the athletic director after the games. Implement weight should be verified on a certified scale and photo submitted with the form.
For weights and hammers, a photo clearly showing the overall length of the implement should be submitted with the form.
For distance events, measurements should be verified with a steel measuring tape by the athletic director and photo submitted with the form.
A video of the throw should be submitted with the form for review, clearly showing that no foul occurred.
The throw must be made as part of a highland games competition, meeting the minimum requirements of such (at least 5 events, athletes compete in kilts, etc.) The throw must be made as one of the athlete's three allotted attempts OR as one of three extra throws awarded to the event winner.
The throw must be made on an appropriately level field, thrown from grass or dirt (not concrete)
The throw must be a legal throw (not a foul)
The director of the games must submit the record verification form. Forms should not be completed by the athlete, parent, or guardian.
